Photography, Books and Ephemera

Specializing in 19th and 20th Century Canadian, American and Indigenous Photographs

“We specialize in objects and images of intrigue.”

Focusing on vintage and historical photography, both Fine Art and Vernacular we hold an extensive inventory which include:

Daguerreotypes from the dawn of photography in the 1840’s to HipHop archives from the 1990’s . We buy, sell, auction and appraise unique material, as well as issue catalogues both printed and virtual on occasion. Rare Photo Gallery also presents curated offerings through international trade shows both in person and online. We also occasionally collaborate with other galleries in creating exciting Pop-Up exhibitions. If you are just looking for a gift or a museum curator, we specialize in objects and images of intrigue and welcome your inquiries.

We carry a specialized inventory of Photography books and early Canadian material. Photographic literature includes artist monographs, historical surveys, artists books and limited editions with original prints included, early books with mounted photographs, book design and illustration with photography, and early technical and scientific works. Canadian history before its confederation in 1867, and its indigenous peoples are the subjects within books and ephemera we have expertise and issue thematic catalogue and exhibition offerings.

We have been working with book collection management and library dispersal and appraisal for three decades. We also periodically hold auctions working with estates and collectors helping sell quality lots to local and international bidders.
